Goal: To enhance the well-being and empowerment of women, children, and marginalized
communities in Nepal through comprehensive policy advocacy, collaborative partnerships, and
evidence-based interventions.
Objectives: Scaling up Advocacy Engagement for Child wellbeing through national and
provincial level dialogues on health, education, resilient and livelihood and child protection
issues.
Activities conducted in Year 3 and Year 4
- Consultation meeting for the approval of the 10-year multi-sectoral education plan
- Orientation programs on child-responsive budgeting
- National consultation workshop on school midday meals
- Study/Research on status of Child Marriage in Sudurpaschim Province ongoing
- Child Budget Advocacy Training Manual Development ongoing
Achievements
- Orientation programs on child-responsive budgeting were conducted for 215 representatives and officials from seven municipalities and rural municipalities, including Gauriganga Municipality, Tikapur Municipality, Ghodaghodi Municipality, Krishnapur Municipality, Bhajani Municipality, and Kailari Rural Municipality. Through these programs, participants gained knowledge and understanding about tools and approaches related to inclusive budgeting for children.
- Recognizing the impacts of climate change on women, youth, and children, the “Dhangadhi Declaration” developed during the Sudurpashchim Dialogue was endorsed. Based on this declaration, a the Ministry of Social Development of Sudurpashchim Province proposed for the allocation of NPR 10 million to support the implementation of activities under the Women and Children Decade Declaration.
- Realizing the need for localization of policies, the final draft of the Sudurpashchim Province Child-Related Policy was prepared by Province.
- A National Consultation Workshop on School Midday Meals was organized with the participation of 77 representatives and officials from different stakeholder agencies. During the workshop, detailed presentations and discussions were held on policies and programs related to nutrition, including improvements made under Nepal’s Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan (MSNP III), strategies for improving the quality of midday meals, utilization of local resources, and discussions from the N4G Summit. Suggestions and feedback received during the workshop were properly documented.
