The Girls Empowerment Project (GEP) is implemented by the Rural Women’s Development and Unity Centre (RUWDUC) with support from Population Connection, USA significant progress has been made in strengthening life skills and promoting active participation among students through extracurricular activities.
The various actively engaged sports activities, such as volleyball, basketball, kabaddi, speech competition, essay competition, kho-kho, cultural dance competition and many more, have not only enhanced physical well-being but also fostered confidence, teamwork, leadership, and decision-making skills among adolescents especially girls.
The sustained efforts of the project in promoting girls’ participation have led to remarkable achievements. The school has successfully secured first position in the President Running Shield for three consecutive years, with an impressive 75% of medals won by girls. This highlights the transformative impact of creating inclusive opportunities where girls are encouraged to lead, compete, and excel.
Through continuous support, mentorship, and provision of sports materials under GEP, girls are breaking traditional barriers and redefining their roles within schools and communities. The success in the President Running Shield stands as a strong example of how empowerment through sports can drive both individual growth and institutional achievement.
