Under the Girls Empowerment Project (GEP), supported by the Population Connection USA and implemented by the Rural Women Development and Unity Center (RUWDUC) an awareness programme on sexual harassment and abuse prevention was successfully conducted to address the growing need for adolescents to better understand personal safety and protection.
The programme was designed in response to the increasing need for adolescents to clearly recognize unsafe behaviours, identify early warning signs of harassment, and understand how to respond effectively in both school and community environments. Many students still lack adequate knowledge about reporting mechanisms and often hesitate to speak up due to fear, stigma, or limited awareness. This creates a significant gap in ensuring their safety and well-being. The session aimed to bridge this gap by building awareness, confidence, and a sense of responsibility among students.
